2012 IN REVIEW – APRIL: I keep forgetting that unlike most of the world, US society is youth driven.  Nobody wants to get older.  I have come to conclude that this is our perpetual societal quest of wanting to discover the “next” big thing.  That’s cool, I guess, because it tangibly encourages the coming generations to continue innovative behaviors.  However, too many times we, in the US, fail to reward true mastery on the level it should be recognized. I was asked by Gene Hall to join the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra.  What an honor to be included at that level on the Kansas City scene.  Sometimes people are watching and listening when you think they are not.  It’s just different at this stage … when you know that you know.
